WORST YEAR EVER

Worst Year Ever

"[I know] this is an oral presentation, which, for some reason whenever I say that to my brother he starts laughing and then punches me and tells me never to talk about oral to him again, if you could Mrs. Roberts, clarify this for me I would be grateful and think that you are less evil but still evil. You are a teacher after all."
~ Charlotte Miller, Age 12

It’s been a rough year for Charlotte Miller, and you can hear all about her goings on as NLT presents Artistic Director, Trevor Schmidt, as Charlotte Miller in “Worst Year Ever.”

Playing January 26th & 27th, tickets are $20 +GST and are available for purchase on our website, by calling the office at 780-471-1586, or at the door (Cash only; Subject to availability).

Message from Charlotte:
Everyone who comes to see my presentation will be entered to win a prize for a sporting event. We have two (2) tickets in Section 203, Centre Ice to see the Oilers play the Coyotes on March 5, 2018 at Roger’s Place (I think that’s hockey?). We will pick a winner on Saturday at the end of my presentation, but you don’t need to be there. We will call you if you win. Thanks, Coach Rahul, for donating these tickets so people might want to come to my presentation more.

All funds raised go to support NLT programming. Presented by permission of the playwright.

“Undaunted and with a grain of salt, the season of “The virgin, the whore, and something in between” will continue into 2018 with Do This in Memory of Me, the story of a girl’s desire to do what only boys can and Slut, a comedic look at how women are pigeon-holed into one of two unsavoury categories. With Northern Light Theatre’s continuing push to feature women on stage in prominent roles, their performances prove to be ahead of their time.”
~ Sierra Bilton (VUE Weekly)

We know budgets can be tight after the holiday season – but everyone still needs to get some theatre in! NLT’s Midseason subscriptions are a great solution - each subscription is the equivalent of two tickets for the price of one!

A subscription provides you with:

  • 1 ticket to see “Do This in Memory of Me”
  • 1 ticket to see SLUT
  • Reserved seats at each show
  • Unique subscriber thank you gifts
  • Entry into a draw for a $50 Gift Card to Doughnut Party

At these prices, they are the best deal in Edmonton Theatre

  • Preview or Sunday Matinee – $20
  • Student or Senior – $25
  • Adult – $35
  • Opening Night – $40

Subscriptions can be purchased online or by calling the office at 780-471-1586.

8th ANNUAL ONLINE AUCTION

8th ANNUAL ONLINE AUCTION

Fun Facts from the National Auctioneers Association…

  • The word “auction” derives from the Latin word “auctus,” which means “increasing.”
  • Rome was the first nation to license auctioneers.
  • Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius sold family furniture at auction to satisfy debts.
  • The “Magister Auctionarium” drove a spear into the ground to start the auction; today, auctioneers use gavels many times throughout an auction.
  • Founded in 1674 by Baron Claes Rålamb, Stockholms Auktionsverk is the oldest auction house still in business.
  • Candles were used in the 1700s at auctions to declare the winner; if you were the high bidder at the time the candle extinguished itself, you won the auction.
  • Jones’ National School of Auctioneering and Oratory was the first American auction school and was established in Davenport, Iowa, in 1906.

While ours is held online, the principle remains the same – people congregate to increase the bid and win fabulous prizes. All funds raised support NLT programming, with the auction going live on Monday March 12th and closing Monday March 26th. Available items will be on display during the run of “Do This in Memory of Me,” March 13-25, 2018 at La Cite Francophone.
