“…Because the real question is not what your philosophy is, but how well it’s working for you.”

Hannah, a minister and Bible scholar, hires ghostwriter Brandt to help translate and interpret a newly discovered early gospel. At the same time, she tries to navigate an on-again, off-again relationship with her son, Thomas, who has had a series of odd jobs and tends to disappear for days, weeks or years at a time. But when Brandt learns painful secrets from Hannah’s past, she spies a risky, unconventional opportunity for reconciliation with Thomas.
